Last updated: Tues 7th July 2020.
We, The Settle-Carlisle Railway Development Company Ltd, are thrilled to announce the reopening of Ribblehead Coffee Shop & Visitor Centre. Both the Coffee Shop and Visitor Centre will open to the public on Saturday 4th July 2020.
Initially, the Visitor Centre and Coffee Shop will open Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00AM to 16:00PM. As in previous years, both will remain open until late Autumn, closing their doors for the Winter on the 31st October 2020.
Located at Ribblehead station, the Coffee Shop and Visitor Centres idyllic setting is like no other. With 360° panoramic views of the Yorkshire Three Peaks and the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct just a short walk away, it’s the perfect stop off point for visitors and locals in need of a refreshing drink and a bite to eat.
Whilst we can’t wait to welcome you to The Ribblehead Coffee Shop & Visitor Centre, please travel to us safely and responsibly by foot, bicycle or car.
With ample car parking space and a designated cycle park area, we’ve ensured there’s plenty of room for you and your family group to visit us whilst observing social distancing and the current restrictions surrounding public transport for leisure travel.
The Visitor Centre is also home to an exhibition celebrating the history of the famous Settle-Carlisle railway line. This will be open to public viewing in line with the necessary social distancing protocols.
Coffee Shop Menu & Service Options…
For the safety of both our customers and staff, we’ve adjusted how we will operate to meet the social distancing measures outlined in government advice for the hospitality sector. Primarily, the Coffee Shop will operate a take-away only service with a reduced menu of items available. As we gain confidence in our operation, we hope to increase our menu offering and open on weekdays- these details will be announced as and when information becomes available via our website, Facebook and Twitter feeds.
Some indoor and outside seating, set out in line with social distancing, will be available for customers. A socially distanced queuing and ordering system will also be enforced. Contactless card is our preferred payment method, but correct change/cash payments will be honoured. When visiting, please respect our staff and other customers by adhering to these rulings at all times.
Things To Do In The Ribblehead Region…

An update on Summer travel along the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle railway…
As a result of the continuing impact of COVID-19, Northern Trains are continuing to operate an amended timetable service, in line with the rest of the rail industry. Whilst Northern are continuing to run services, the Government is advising that you should consider all other forms of transport when planning a journey.
Timetabled service capacity is significantly limited across the Northern Trains network– this is due to the measures that have been put in place to encourage social distancing.
