The Hollies is a newly refurbished Victorian Gentlemenc39;s Residence offering both Bc38;B and self catering accommodation situated on the north side of Appleby just 1/2 mile from Appleby station on the world famous Settle – Carlisle railway.

Bc38;B 4 Star rated by Visit England. 2 double/twin en suite rooms are available. One dog per room welcome.

Our attached, dog friendly, self catering lodge is a charming cottage dating from 1894. It was built as a museum attached to the main house c38; retains some of its original pine cladding. In 2015 it was extended c38; completely refurbished giving a fully accessible ground floor with a wet-room one c38; one double/twin room. Upstairs are 2 more bedrooms c38; a shower room, The cottage sleeps a total of 7. It has a Visit England 4 Star Gold rating c38; National Accessibility grades of M2, H2, V1.

Travel Direction:

From the motorway (M6):
From the North leave at J40 (Penrith) Follow the A66 East towards Brough for 13 miles. When taking the exit for Appleby keep in the right hand lane to the T junction with Roman Road, turn right towards Hilton. We are 1/2 mile on the left in a copse of trees.

From the South leave at J38 (Tebay) Follow the B6260 via Orton to Appleby. You will come into Appleby past the castle and down to the market square with the Ti, the road then bends to the right c38; crosses the river Eden. At the T junction turn left, continue towards Penrith 1/4 mile, take the right turn towards the rail station (Station Road) continue under the railway up the hill, the road narrows to a T junction with Roman Road. Turn left under the A66 towards Brampton, we are 1/2 mile on the right.

From the A1 via Barnard Castle c38; Brough on the A66
Take the exit for Appleby, (the slip road is quite long and ends with a T junction, turn left) continue for 1 mile into the town. Look out for the left turn to Orton, by the river. Continue forwards towards Penrith c38; turn right for the station as above.

Do not worry if your sat-nav finds a different route to us, using our postcode usually will place you about 200 yards west of us.

If arriving by train on the Settle – Carlisle railway
If you have not arranged for us to collect you from the station exit from the opposite platform to the town and car park, down the path to Station Road and turn right, up the hill. Then follow the route as above. If you are adventurous, at the top of Station Road where the road bears right take the path on the left this allows you, via 2 stiles, to cross the A66 (dual carriageway) When the path joins Roman Road turn left. This cuts about 1/3 mile off the walk.
