Description:

We are a volunteer run heritage railway based in the old Kirkby Stephen East station. We have a museum, a buffet car for snacks, a well stocked shop and we run steam and diesel trains on event days (see our website for dates).

We open at weekends from 10am – 4pm. Admission to the site is free with parking and disabled access. Charges apply for train rides and some special events.

Our buffet car provides a range of tea, coffee and soft drinks, pannini, toasties, home made soup, freshly baked scones and traybakes for purchase and consumption on site. We also have a picnic area where you can consume your own food.

By car: We are on the A685 approximately 0.8 miles south of Kirkby Stephen town centre. The A685 can be accessed from the M6 Tebay (Junction 38) or via the A66.

Public transport: 0.5 mile walk on a public footpath from Kirkby Stephen station. The 563 bus service operates on Saturdays terminating in Kirkby Stephen town centre.
