The Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company is launching a special photo competition, to celebrate the line’s 150th anniversary.

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Settle Carlisle line and part of the Rail200 the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company is running this photo competition.

It’s full steam ahead for a chartered steam train to bring passengers from the City of Culture 2025 to Carlisle on a circular scenic journey.

The Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company is inviting people to become volunteers as the line celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.

Please note, there are emergency works on the Settle-Carlisle line on the 29th and 30th July 2024.

The first of a summer of shuttle buses linking Appleby Railway Station and the town centre is operating this Saturday (May 25).

Young pupils from Clifton Nursery and Primary School took their first train journey to enjoy lunch and activities at Appleby Railway Station.
