May Update from The Settle-Carlisle Railway…
Northern Trains are continuing to operate a reduced timetable service in support of the national effort to delay the spread of Coronavirus. The current timetable is for essential travel only.
Essential travel timetables are in operation across the whole Northern Trains rail network including the Leeds – Settle – Carlisle, Leeds – Bentham – Lancaster/Morecambe rail.

It is important that you check your journey times prior to travelling. Due to the uncertainty of the current climate, travel times are subject to change at short notice.
Tickets & Refunds…
Northern Trains have suspended the selling of tickets on board all trains. Customers requiring a ticket can purchase these in advanced of their journey online, via the Northern Trains mobile app or at a station ticket office.
At time of writing, Settle and Appleby ticket offices remain open. Tickets for travel along the railway may be purchased from these stations. Some Northern Trains ticket offices have closed and those that are open may do so as the situation progresses in the coming days and weeks. We will update this page should the situation change further.
Ticket Vending Machines:
Leeds, Skipton, Appleby, Settle and Carlisle stations all have Ticket Vending Machines which sell tickets to all locations in the UK. Customers are encouraged to continue purchasing tickets, prior to travel, through these machines.
What Northern Trains is doing to protect customers …
Until further notice all waiting rooms at Northern stations will be closed. This follows advice from government and is in-line with action taken by train operators across the country.
We have a robust plan in place for cleaning our trains. This includes the removal l of litter throughout the day and ensuring all surfaces are cleaned on a regular basis.
On-board our trains and at stations, where facilities exist, there is soap and water available in our toilets for customers to follow NHS advice to wash their hands for 20 seconds.
If you come across a toilet with no soap, please alert a member of staff.
What you can do to protect yourself …
The government is advising that everyone should avoid all non-essential public transport use and, where possible, should try to avoid rush hour services. People should also vary usual travel times to prevent crowding and, if possible, work from home.
If you are showing any Coronavirus symptoms, however mild, you should self-isolate along with other members of your household. The latest Public Health England advice is available here.
